I think most people use ghost to back up there ce image http://www.symantec.com/norton/ghost but I never really care enough to back my os up like that. I'm thinking you might be able to use it to put said image on the hdd. I'm also half way certain you'll have to build said image and last I checked ...

I don't think I can help ya much but you should be able to get java on any of these linux images. They'll need some kind of tweaking. All of them.
Perhaps you could use a web proxy to download any of these. Tr that and we'll go from there.

Jump on it roadie There are quite a few  other embedded linux images I'd choose such as those compatible with the pen mount drivers. No one has made a imbedded image for this toy yet though for it's easier to make the ones already made.

The best thing to try would be the live cd on the dt. If it loads then cool. It's still alpha and I don't think they will have. It's based off Karmic koala which is the next ubuntu update due out in october.

I think that if you want to do it legally you should contact microsoft. They can get you in the right direction and keep you legal.
If you want to do it legal then us giving you the image like so will be illegal.
