Did you ever get Slitaz working? I have it working quite well on a Compaq Armada M300 laptop with similar specs to the WebDTs. As usual, the touch screen will be the challenge... I am going to try shortly...

I am also looking at Slitaz. Very well thought out, good tools and active development community.

Re: Touchscreen calibration
This is extremely interesting. I am reminded of "gpsd," which works with multiple gps devices and gives a standardized interface to applications.

Re: Datasheet for VGA BIOS
I am not sure we are talking about the same thing... I was referring to the video chip in the WebDT. You seem to be referring to a cell phone... VGA means video graphics array. It is also sometimes used to generically refer to the video subsystem in a computer. The original resolution for a VGA disp...

Just FYI, I have used the hot air method on several modules now, with good results.

Re: Formal apology
I have a working download of the Porteus build linked in your earlier post. It boots fine on a PC notebook. When I try to boot it on a 366, before I get to the spash screen, I get the following. USB boot device : Mass storage class [00F9h/FFh/3Fh] SYSLINUX 4.04 EDD 2011-04-18 Copyright (C) 1994-2011...

Re: Can I use WebDT 366 for...
Both of the above approaches MIGHT work. There is an easy way to run in a car that WILL work. You can get a fairly inexpensive power inverter that converts your 12-15v DC from the lighter plug to a nice solid 120VAC. Then you can just plug the standard AC adapter into that. This results in a few mor...

Re: Source for low profile IDE connector
I have found a better way to desolder the old connector. You can use an industrial heat gun, the kind that looks like a hair dryer, but is MUCH hotter. They sell these in the hardware store as paint removers. I maksed off all of the components on the board with high voltage electrical tape. (The thi...

This is looking like a great distro. I have not gotten it onto the DT yet... but I booted it on a desktop and it looks great! Thanks for all the effort and keep us posted!

Re: Formal apology
I am on a 368 running tiny core right now. I can see the CF card just fine. I just used the built in "mount" application, and it popped right up. So far I am on wired networking, and I have not yet attempted the touch screen driver. As to the distribution model, I think that is what I like...

Re: Source for low profile IDE connector
Attached is a photo of the memory module with the low profile connector on the left. I cut through the old connector with a hacksaw. this let me peel the plastic away and desolder one contact at a time. With one side loose, I was able to bend the other side back and forth until the contacts broke. T...

Re: I don't have an internal battery
Has anyone found a source for "bare cells" in the correct sizes for the internal and external batteries? Ebay is flooded with bare cylindrical cells, but there don't seem to be any sources for the prismatic types used in the DTs... Has anyone found an inexpensive equivalent cell phone or c...
