Puppy Linux 6.9.9.9 Aka Slacko 7.0RC - Slackware 14.2
I found a somewhat recent puppy that works on the DT366GX hardware. Find ISO files here: http://distro.ibiblio.org/puppylinux/puppy-slacko-7.0/testing/32/slacko-6.9.9.9-k3.16-4G-FF-ABI.iso for firefox http://distro.ibiblio.org/puppylinux/puppy-slacko-7.0/testing/32/slacko-6.9.9.9-k3.16-4G-PM-ABI.iso...

Re: How to boot puppy linux to WebDT366
Linux package xbindkeys may be helpful for mapping button presses (keycodes) to arrows or launching programs. Found this when fighting slitaz. Considering puppy rebuilds each menu (where we normally put button bindings) on each package install xbindkeys may make puppy “useable” in my opinion. Pendin...

Slitaz remade & @85% needs work
Ive spent a few weeks working with Slitaz v3 on the DT366GX series. ron85 has a YouTube video where he mentions purchasing from tbowland which means its an lx800 series and 512mb ram and faster board than gx series can offer. Lx800 usually means WebDT360 model. That being said I have this somewhat w...

Re: slitaz Work in progressq
Again rusty, If you are building iso’s on slitaz please dont make the same mistake I did. Tazlito preloads a few packages in to the package list for “linux-wireless” and “linux-dri” and linux-bluetooth” and so forth. This is bad. Get rid of them. On the hardware I have to rebuild the kernel and ofte...

Re: slitaz Work in progressq
FINALLY!!!! This as not an easy workaround. If anyone is building theirselves.... Get the xorg-mkfontsdir and the xorg-mkfontscale packages from v5 slitaz and install on v3 using tazpkg on a manual usb insert after downloading the packages from slitaz package search site. Go in to each directory wit...

Re: slitaz Work in progressq
After two weeks of kernel building and various attempts, about 27 iso images, Slitaz may not work out too well. They issue a broken xvkbd pckage from their repo and its the only on screen keyboard they have. Hard to use these tablets without a keyboard. If you dont care, Its easy to take core versio...

Re: slitaz Work in progressq
Nothing worse than corrupted internal flash chip. Whack a mole. I would get kernel working and not have icons in window manager. Or not have working kernel and have most else working. Installed icon packages 5 times over and each time I get unrecognized image format. Guessing flash is shot. Replacin...

Re: slitaz Work in progressq
Rusty... Thats what I am. I forgot to compile the kernel in a way that included all the (deprecated) pata stuff as built in to the kernel and not as a module. Sigh. Just had a successful build in that it was a justx flavor but I made giant kernel with lots built in. It worked. All drivers loaded on ...

Re: slitaz Work in progressq
So far, Not booting to desktop. Need to clean up syslinux conf files. It may make this english_us specific on boot though. Looking for alternate approach. xvkbd complains about no usable fonts but other locale issues seem to be amidst. xvkbd wont even start. Screenshot shows a save action after sett...

Geode Video Driver reference
This is an important link for anyone looking to get linux working “well” on Geode hardware. https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/xorg/driver/xf86-video-geode/-/tree/xf86-video-geode-2.11.11 Drop the branch menu down to the version that you are working on and look over the readme. It turns out that via ver...

Re: slitaz Work in progressq
I really should have tried this earlier. Thank you ron85. Cant say enough about Slitaz. Rumors are that it was forked from DSL Linux. Cant say enough about the tools they incorporate. I have it installed to the tablet now and am 4 days in to testing it out. Big moment is testing saves on live os. Sl...

Re: How to boot puppy linux to WebDT366
Things to be aware of with puppy linux that make it less than ideal for webdt usage: If you use puppy’s package manager to install anything it does an operation post install you wont like: rebuild menus. This post install acton is meant to show the new installed item within the menu and the hook reb...

How to boot puppy linux to WebDT366
Hi All, Is 2020 now and its not as easy to work with these tablets as it was say 5 years ago. If you want to start fresh with a puppy linux iso and build it yourself its not that hard. A few things you need to know: LiLi windows application version 2.0 as well as unetbootin version 307 are capable o...

Puppy 4.31 again
Hi All, Not sure if anyone is still using these tablets or not. Was doing some house cleaning and ran in to two old images. Not sure if I built these or if Matt did but here is puppy linux again. Edit: I uploaded the image to the server that Volkswagner provides, Thank you Volkswagner! See attachmen...

WebDT-Live-JWM Debian 8 with full cooking instructions
This is potentially the last image for the DT366GX that I will make. Within this post are instructions for an experienced linux user on how to cook their own image for a DT366GX tablet. This will be a complete custom operating system. Feel free to take my package choices or to produce your own custo...
