Re: Puppy Linux

I have been super busy these past couple of months so had to put all my dt hacking on ice. With luck I will brush it off again in the coming weeks. It looks like there is a new puppy out, it seems to use a later X so that may make things go smoother.

Re: What do we need in a modern operating system?

I actually attempted to install the package manually, that is I extracted the files, found the kernel modules and XOrg drivers, added these to the necessary system files and bingo. Big fat error about the XOrg version being incompatible with the Penmount driver on Puppy 421 I also tried the open sou...

You are correct, write wear should not be an issue with linux, almost all writes are to /var and /home and these can easily be placed on a CF card for just about any distro.

Re: What do we need in a modern operating system?

I have been using Puppy linux 4.2.1 it runs from ram (yes even in 256meg) so no flash wear, has lots of apps including a full word processor and flash enables browser the downside..... I cant get the touch screen to work!! I think this would be perfect and if I ever get any time I may even brush off...

Re: Anyone tried a tiny linux distro like DSL?

I was playing with getting Puppy linux to work but had a similar problem with Penmount drivers. There are open source drivers available also and I managed to get them loaded but the cursor is way off as if it needs calibration. I have been out of the loop for a few weeks (father in law passed away) ...

Puppy Linux

Hi All, I have been playing around with puppy linux on dt366 and it works very well with one major exception. The DT research touch screen drives do not work. Puppy 4.2 uses X 1.3 and the drives do not load. I have found some open source drivers (evtouch and penmount) these load but the point is jus...

Re: Debian5-WebDT366-LXDE-1.1

I emailed the developer of xvkdb about adding the ability to send it a SIG_USR1 to uniconify the keyboard, but on further thought it looks like using devilspie to control windows may be better.

Re: hard drive speed - bios trick?

Which then raises the questions, of what 1GB flash chip did you get, where from and for how much?

Re: Touch Screen Calibration

Yup, that did the trick setting the 2nd button time to 500ms now enables me to resize windows however the pointer still jigggles about even if the pen is held very still this meens getting a second button event is very difficult.

As you mentioned gCal 25 helps some but it is still not ideal.

Touch Screen Calibration

While I have the touch screen working and calibrated with gCal I am having some problems doing drag events, for example dragging a corner of a window to resize it. Has anyone else seen this? Im guessing it is somthing to do with one of the options in xorg.conf

Re: Apacer DOM - 90 degree

OK here is another possible flash module. Note, it looks like the connector is higher so may need some sanding. Operating voltage 3.3 -> 5 and type A has pin 1 to the right which I belive is what we want also the wear leveling looks really good at 2mil cycles. http://www.memorydepot.com/ssd/listcat....

Re: IDE-CF MOD

Also you will notice your flash module is the wrong way up. The triangle by the connector is pin 1 you will notice on the DT366 pin 1 is on the Left so you would need to rotate the module 180 degrees even if you could make good contacts.
