Re: Custom Linux Build with Wifi, Touchscreen, and Firefox

I'd like to give this a shot. I am totally looking for something very light like this for my home automation.

Would it be easy to add festival to it? I need the tablets to log into my festival server to remotely play voice commands.

Thanks.

Re: Much Action Here Lately?

Yes, mine say ambia in the top right corner. I'm certain they are the GX series. I don't think they are LX. The image you just uploaded is for the LX? I looked at Volkswagons images and am working at downloading them again. I have the intel ipw2200 wireless in my machines. I checked the ram. 512M. w...

Re: Much Action Here Lately?

Well I forgot about the bluetooth. I'm anticipating using it so that I can do presence detection based on bluttooth ids in cell phones. Everyone has them, and they all squak I think, so I had planned on keeping that so that when one of the tablets picked my phone up, it could register as me being th...

Re: Much Action Here Lately?

Necroing my own thread, I've been unsuccessful with macpup. I just ready through Quotaholics post, and I guess he mentioned what happened. Maybe to list what I am looking for in an image for mine. Small and sleek. I require very few modules. X, touchscreen drivers, wireless support for the basics. T...

Much Action Here Lately?

I've been busy with other projects, but was wondering if there was much action on here lately?

I don't see many new posts on the Linux front.

I will be ready to work on a Linux image this coming week, and will be trying macpup. Anyone else gave it a spin lately?

Re: E17

What about LVMing that thing with a 1G or 2G CF? You could have it boot off the internal drive, then use the CF with LVM to make a larger drive. And if it burns out from too many writes, just replace it. I think they are like $10 now.

Have you tried that yet?

Macpup

I found a copy of a linux distro that has Enlightenment as the desktop manager. Coincidentally, it is running Puppy 431 in it as well. You can find it at www.macpup.org. I will be installing a copy on one of my tablets this week and I will keep you updated as to how it goes. I also need to run festi...

ELive

I downloaded ELive from www.elivecd.org. I installed it to a USB stick and was able to successfully able to boot from it on my DT366. I had used some flavour of elive in the past on a vmware session on my main laptop, but this new version required me to pay for something or other to install it. Has ...

Re: Screen Brightness Control

I just got this figured out.

You have to press and hold the third button from the left and then press the up or right Dpad key.

This is bios controlled brightness. It works while booting.

Took me forever to figure it out, but my tablets are working fine now.

Re: New install method for Debian-Seeking testers

I'll bite, since I can't get quotaholic's image to boot once installed onto my machines.

Looking at your instructions, you state to burn it out to a CD. Is it possible to write it to a memory key and boot that way?

Does the backlight control work in this image?

Thanks.

Screen Brightness Control

I am posting this here as well, I can't get the screen to brighten.

I just got Puppy 4.3.2 installed and as it was booting it dimmed the screen and I am unable to get it back to 100%.

Anyone have any ideas? It's stuck in this mode, and when I boot off a USB key it is still dim now.

Thanks

BIOS or CMOS Reset?

I have somehow hosed the settings for my dt366 and am unable to get it to detect the keyboard (or any use devices for that matter). Is there a reset or clear procedure to reset the bios to defaults? I have been trying combinations of the reset button and the power button, but haven't had any success...

Anybody have the brightness control working on this? For some reason my brightness dimmed down, and I can no longer figure out how to get it to turn back on.  >:(

Re: DT WEB 360s for sale - Band new still in the box - $ 75.00

I plan on mounting these on the wall, but I've just discovered an even better idea. Mount the stand on the wall and then the device is removable so that I can putter with it in the room I happen to be in, and then drop it back in the stand to recharge! Ted is going to make me buy like 6 more of thes...

Re: Look at this guy! He is like a distributor.

I grabbed 2 from Ted in the other thread. His units are new, have 512M ram, and come with a stand.

I don't care about the batteries as I am mounting them on a wall in a permanent fashion. I'll report back how I make out when they arrive. I also like the intel wireless.
