Re: Fresh install

Sorry, no clue on the part. You may have an additional USB port. Check the small white connector that is under the BIOS chip and left of the square processor chip. Printed on the main board is an ID next to it - tell me what it says. It could be a serial connection for a mag stripe reader or it coul...

Re: Fresh install

Good job. Yup, NLITE and a USB hub is the trick. Did you find all the drivers?

Re: Fresh install

No, the earlier post about the hard drive was wrong. The PCMCIA and CF slots are not bootable - just the 44 pin interface. You can get flash drives as posted elsewhere in the forum. The pins are very short so a 'normal' 44 pin IDE cable will not work but there are posts about the proper connector an...

Re: Fresh install

The "366" models are the 366 GX1 version. They usually ran WIN CE and could have 256mb of RAM. They have USB1.1 ports. Lots of reading on the forum for you with those models. They can run Puppy Linux or some version of trimmed XP (MicroXP, XP-Lite, etc) - you can also role your own lite ve...

Tell me the model numbers and serial numbers then I can tell you what you have and send you the drivers.

Thanks.

Re: Fresh install

I can't seem to blow up the pics very well but the more I stare at it, that third one might not be the PATA port - hard to tell. It could be the forum software shrinks pics to save space or my browser. If you can send me the pics directly I should be able to give you more info. I'd hate for you to b...

Re: Fresh install

The third one looks like a DT360 with the 1.8" PATA drive port instead of the CF card like the others. That port is bootable. You can put a 30 GB drive into it. Seach EBAY for the TOSHIBA MK3006GAL. You need to modify the port and mount the drive upside down but it works well. You can also buy ...

Re: Dt310 Bios

Upgrading the BIOS may also require upgrades to the system board. You should contact DT Research here: http://dtresearch.com/support/support_contact.htm They can tell you if this is something you can do yourself or if you need to send the tablet to them. I'm not sure where you are located so you may...

Re: working on a new image

I have a 431 install working OK. I have tried newer versions and I have found the easiest way to test. I simply install the new Puppy (QUIRKY, WARY and LUCID are OK) and then when you exit the installation it asks to create that 2FS file. I save it and then copy the old pupsave.2fs from v431 while n...

Re: working on a new image

My DT366 has the same wifi card but the DT360 uses a different card - I'll try it there too.

I have not had lockups with Puppy 4.31 - that's what I usually use on these tablets.

Re: working on a new image

Tried but failed.....how do you mean? Do you need the tools for your USB flash drive so you can run ghost? I can email because they are not large. I won't have time to play with your image until the weekend. My experience with Puppy is that it's perfect for older computers as well as computers with ...

Re: working on a new image

Looks great, I'll give it a try. I'll try to make a ghost image and post it for the ghost users.

Thanks for the hard work.

Re: Dt310 Bios

You need the service tools software package to rewrite the BIOS file. Where are you located? Pass me your direct email and maybe I can tell you where to get the tablet BIOS flashed. The BIOS version you have is OK for a 1.8" drive. Go into the BIOS and turn on the summary screen with a long del...

DT166gx Windows CE image needed

I need a WinCE ghost image for the DT166gx. My original image is trashed.

I have an image for XP Embedded but I need WinCE that was originally on it for a POS app.

Can anyone help?

Thanks

Re: BIOS firmware for DT166/168

Did you make a ghost image of the WinCE first? I have not tried TC linux but Puppy Linux v4.31 works with the GUI and all. You can boot the live version off CD or USB thumb drive. You can get into the BIOS to select boot device by tapping F1 as you power up. Tap the F1 about once per second until yo...
