Re: 100% Working NimbleX on the WebDT366

Alright, I finally completed the new tutorial.  I even included a YouTube video and you'll see how fast you can make one of these USB sticks. Hope this helps everyone out --- but I'm still looking forward to the custom build that Bogdan will be making. PS: You might want to "sticky" this u...

Re: WebDT with some neat WinCE apps

What I did was I ripped my own DVD onto my system, and then I re-encoded the DVD into a suitable format for playback on the WebDT running WinCE. I've done dozens of encoding, and below is the absolute best encoding method for the WebDT on CE: WMV8 for Broadband (PAL 700 Kbps) 352x288, 636 Kbits/sec,...

WebDT with some neat WinCE apps

Here's a YouTube video of my WebDT running the included WinCE 5.0.  I was able to find some very useful CE apps that actually work on it.  Once I get NimbleX on it, I'll post a new video.

The link below will force the YouTube video to play in HD mode, so enjoy!

Re: NimbleX 2009 on WebDT ...soon

After I had a few moments of calm, I had a brainstorm of how to try and make the NimbleX Custom build (from their website) to work.  Since I don't know how to create a build from scratch, I had to "borrow" some things from a Slax 5 build. The only stuff that was 'borrowed' from the Slax 5 ...

Re: NimbleX 2009 on WebDT ...soon

Wow, that sounds great Bogdan. I've spent over 8hrs trying to get the custom build of NimbleX working on the WebDT.  The only thing I couldn't get working was the Penmount 9000 touchscreen drivers.  WiFi, Sound, Bluetooth were working from the get-go.  I had to create a custom "x11.mo" fil...

Re: Nimblex sub 100 distro

... and 8hrs later Well, after a full day working with every type of NimbleX build and Slax builds it turned out to be a failed attempt.  Penmount support turned out to be a flop. The only build that seems to be the most compatible with the WebDT366 is the Custom NimbleX builds (which are based on ...

Re: Nimblex sub 100 distro

To answer your questions, no I haven't touched the CF card yet.  Until I'm able to get everything working on USB boot, I won't touch the CF just yet.  Basically, USB booting would be the same if I put it on the CF anyway. ... more info since my last posts... I finally figured a way to get both Nimbl...

Re: Nimblex sub 100 distro

NimbleX 69MB Version I was able to boot into the 69mb version of NimbleX, but I had to modify the nimblex69.lzm file.  I had to fully decompress it, locate etc/x11/ foler, and modify the .conf files and remove all instances of the 1024x768.  I created a new nimblex69.lzm file based on the changes, ...

Re: Nimblex sub 100 distro

The reason why I'm using the USB method is that once we get a linux distro working, I can simply plug in the usb stick, power it on and voila, everything is up and running on the WebDT --- kind of like using the Ubuntu USB method on desktops.  That way, these USB distro's for the WebDT can be made p...

Re: Nimblex sub 100 distro

Here are my results of trying to use NimbleX on my WebDT366: All methods below had a USB hub connected to the WebDT with an external keyboard, external mouse and I was booting off a USB stick. First off, I was not able to boot the "custom" NimbleX build.  Reason being is that my main syste...

Re: Nimblex sub 100 distro

I just watched your video, great job.  I'll give NimbleX a try. Have you had any luck at getting the Penmount 9000 drivers working yet?

I'll have to get a 'mini usb hub' so I can plug in the keyboard, mouse and usb stick all at once.

I'll post my results.
