Re: Small USB Drive

Running the OS from USB 1.1 will be slow as hell and really lag the machine to a useless state. I wouldnt recommend it. I dont know why you would mod the USB to be internal just to have onboard storage when you already have a Compact Flash Card reader built in. Seems like a waste of time, and a pote...

Re: WebDT 366 GX Internal Documentation

HDD Ports are in fact 3.3v to comply with FlashROM requirements. It would be possible to 'steal' power from the onboard dock connector USB port though. I will test that in good time. I have some more news. I did some more research into the Flashrom Board, it is nothing more than a super slim horizon...

In simple terms, dont dick with nLite if you dont know what you are doing. You can and will screw up the install.

Re: Add Slax 6.1.1 to your dd tool box, working terminal in 3 minutes or less

I just made a new USB boot device using the newly released Slax 6.1.1 I downloaded the USB version, extracted it to my USB, ran the /boot/bootinst.sh to make it bootable. For those of you in Windows (I used XP) run /boot/bootinst.bat and follow the prompts on the screen. You can use WinRAR to extra...

Hells yes, thank you. I have been fighting with my external hardware and dd for a week now. I was half tempted to pull my FLashROM, make a gender bender adapter and hook it into an IDE Chain on another host PC to get this done. I'm really glad you got this going, much appreciated.

Re: WebDT 366 GX Internal Documentation

You rule! Also, I can add one more thing to your documention. The soundcard chipset is in the top-left corner of your photo, immediately to the left of the 'Y' on your compact flash sticker. I'm pretty keen to get a pinout of the dock connections... there's 2 extra USB and 1 ethernet available ther...

Re: BIOS Revisions

If anyone has a bad flash of a BIOS and cant recover, contact me. I have the hardware to flash LPC Fimrware Hub ICs used in the WebDT. Just cover shipping costs and send me a copy of a BIOS you know that works. I would be more than happy to help you out, no charge, although if you want to slip me a ...

Re: Long live the Flash Drive-Wear Leveling

I dont have that issue often on my desktops and laptops, but yeah, NTLDR can be a bit bitchy in general. I figured it might have been a direct issue with the WebDT not liking Windows XP (Embedded, Tablet, Whatever). Thanks for the input. I am still taking a whack at building WinXP Embedded for the W...

WebDT 366 GX Internal Documentation

Not many hardware people here, so I might be of use for once. Here is a main internal photo of the WebDT 366 GX I have, and some side notes of what I found. Click my picasa link for a more detailed picture. If anyone wants closeup shots, please ask. I have a few closeups now, and would be willing to...

Re: Divx/AVI player for DT366?

With the lack of AGP and such low video memory, with an AMD Geode CPU running at 400Mhz, dont expect MPEG-4 video playback. I have spent the good part of two days playing with how hard I can push the WebDT. I was not able to play back any sort of xvid/divx media. The unit did not have the resources....

Re: Messed up tablet?

I know this may seem really weird... but did you drop it? Is the buzzing coming from the speaker, or the unit itself? The reason I ask is because I recently discovered something on the board that will cause the right speaker to buzz with EMF when its enabled. I doubt this is the case since my WebDT ...

Re: Long live the Flash Drive-Wear Leveling

Ive been playing with embedded stuff for a little while, and to be honest I am consider myself a novice, but until I design my own device from the chip level up, I will always think this. Anyways... One thing that should be noted with Embedded devices is the Flash Wear, as volkswagner mentioned. For...

Re: Can I boot from the CF card slot?

I took apart one of my WebDT GX 366s' and located some interesting points on the motherboard. HDD2 is actually a CF style set of pads under the main Compact Flash slot. There is not enough room to install an internal CF slot and put a card in it. This explains why there is a 'Boot from HDD2' option ...
