Re: Source for low profile IDE connector

I did take some pictures, but I don't have them with me. I will post shortly. Thanks for the suggestion on larger modules, but I think I am OK for the moment. I have several additional modules to convert. By the way, this conversion results in a module that fits correctly in the system. I have previ...

Re: Formal apology

Thank you for all your hard work on these cool little systems. I look forward to your progress on the distro. I would like to help, but I am not sure how much I can add. Have you considered Tiny core? It definitely boots on the DTs, but I have not managed to get much else working... BTW, don't apolo...

Re: Source for low profile IDE connector

My connectors have arrived from Samtec, and I have succeeded in modifying a flash module. I used a 512 module from an HP thin client. My goal was to have additional modules, so I could work on several system builds at one time, so 512 is plenty of room. I made two hacksaw cuts, one through each line...

Re: Source for low profile IDE connector

My sample connector has not yet arrived, but I have an update on the removal of the old connector. I had a similar 64 MB flash module laying around from an HP thin client, so I decided to practice removing the connector. The "Divide and conquer" method was fairly successful. I cut the conn...

Re: New battery

You pretty much have to build your own battery from cells. There are used ones on ebay and other locations, but they are not likely to work well. Others have posted instructions on building battery from mobile phone replacement cells. This can be fairly cheap... I successfully built an internal batt...

Re: I don't have an internal battery

I also built a replacement battery for my 366 using the cell phone battery route. I was able to carefully cut away the "battery protector" portion of the cell phone battery, while leaving its welded tabs installed. It is fairly easy to solder to the welded tabs. You must re-use the existin...

Source for low profile IDE connector

For those of you with a steady soldering iron... I have located a source for the low profile female connector used on the IDE flash modules. http://www.samtec.com/ProductInformation/TechnicalSpecifications/Overview.aspx?series=CLT I believe that part number CLT-122-02-G-D will be a good substitute. ...

Re: What I brought mine for and how I am using it

lgharriman,     I also started with computers in '78. (Apple][, 16k RAM, integer basic, cassette tape drive) DOS might be interesting on the WebDT, but it seems like an uphill battle. Touchscreen, power management, button events, USB, etc... For those looking for that simple life in a small device, ...

Re: ASK-IR, IRDA, FIR, WTF!

There is no IRDA hardware installed on my 368. Have you looked to see if the IR tranciever is actually installed on the board? The only WebDT I have seen IRDA hardware installed on is the DT375.

Datasheet for internal Flash Drive

The flash module in my 368 is a 512MB Apacer, Model Number AP-FM0512ALOC5-NJ I found the following page on the Apacer site, with links to a slightly generic datasheet. http://us.apacer.com/products/ADMIII-44P-90D#download_block Interestingly, the data sheet says this module works at 3.3 or 5volts. T...

Re: Reset back to factory settings or do a clean install

As mentioned by rectic in the BIOS discussion... If you press the hidden "reset" button (under the round label at top left, when viewed from the back) while pressing the left two front panel buttons, you are placed in to "loader" mode. (Simultaneous Reset/Kbd/Home, from power off...

Re: New to to forum!

I am also newly registered, though I have been reading the forum for some time. I am very impressed with the community here. I now have a total of four WebDTs. One each DT366, DT360, DT375 and DT368, all from ebay. The last three were all purchased for under $25! (~35 with shipping). I must say, the...
