Re: Screen Brightness Control

Usually screen brightness is adjusted with the third hard button and the D-pad.
  • Up/Down adjust brightness
  • left sets backlight off
  • right sets to full bright
Perhaps you have an issue with the hard buttons?

Re: New install method for Debian-Seeking testers

I'm not sure about using a USB key it is just an .iso file.  I just use CD-RW media to save on wasted disks.  I'll check the Clonezilla documents to see if using a USB key is a viable option for future images. Screen brightness works with the third hard button and D-pad.  This button is also program...

Re: Debian5-E17-1.2

thom, try the  Clonezilla image.  It will work.  Even though you have a larger disk the image will still work.  As long as your disk is recognized as /dev/hda you're good to go! The above is for LXDE.  If the method works and you like it you can add E17, or I can build an E17 Clonezilla image from q...

Re: DT WEB 360s for sale - Band new still in the box - $ 75.00

Please do not mislead with incorrect information. Geode LX 800 does not mean 800MHz. The LX 800  has a clock speed of 500MHz, while the GX 533 has a 400MHz clock speed (Geode Wiki ). I will not argue your units are a good deal.  I paid $90 ea. for my used WebDT366 units, with lower specs.  I would l...

New install method for Debian-Seeking testers

Greetings all, There has been some discussion regarding difficulty with using the DD command to flash the WebDT with a pre-built Linux image. I have taken one of quotaholic's Debian images and converted it to a Clonezilla image. I have modified the image, removing a lot of driver files.  This freed ...

Re: Extracting An Image..

I thought Ghoste.exe allowed image from a smaller drive to a larger drive?  Is that the issue, or are they different architecture?  Perhaps you selected partition rather than the whole drive? You can use a live linux environment and DD to image the drive to an image file, say to a USB stick.  Then a...

Re: Lets list out our favorite apps for Linux on a WebDT

I have had no issue with focus.  Best I can say is it just always works.  I open CellWriter and it always stays on top.  I select a field or window where I want the text input, then start writing in the cells.  I select enter within the cellwriter app, and it pastes my input. The only issue I can me...

Lets list out our favorite apps for Linux on a WebDT

I am sure we can all come up with a couple of our favorite apps. I'd like to start with Cellwriter .    Handwriting recognition.  You calibrate it with your own handwriting!  It even has a built in virtual keyboard! I have posted a few videos...sorry for the crappy quality, but you'll get the idea. ...

Re: New kid on the block

Glad you got the screen working. Can you tell me the kernel you are using? Please post output of: uname -a That is great news, that you did not need to create a custom init.  I tried using symlinks, perhaps that is the difference.  With a small Flash drive, I did not want too many partitions with so...

Re: New kid on the block

Welcome, Great work with the battery, I love a good bargain, with a challenge even better! Have you moved your /usr directory?  I tried moving it in the past, but got errors on boot, due to CF-flash drive not activated early enough on boot.  There is a fix for this with a custom init image.  I am ju...

Re: Untested installer theory

It may be a little scary, but no means is it difficult.  The directions are clear and very little typing is required.  When compared to actually installing Debain (several hours and lots of commands) vs running the live cd and dd via the  directions , it's a piece of cake for any novice computer use...
