Queries Abt CF Cards

Post by akhileshss »

Hi guys,

I had some questions. I know most of them are answered, but almost all of it is in bits n pieces over so many messages :)

1. Whats the max CF memory DT 366 supports?
2. Are there speed improvements in current CF cards compared to the one fitted inside DT by default? If yes, are there any special bios/hardware tweaks you made?
3. Are there any particular specs we should look for when we go out to buy a CF card?
4. What are approximate "deal" prices for various 1GB, 2GB, 4GB, 8GB, 16GB cards?
5. What cards do people use presently (in working condition) and has anyone faced issue with particular type/brand of CF card?
6. It would be great if people recommend really good deals they stumble upon for buying CF on web/ebay/other online shops.
7. Any recommendation for particular brand/items from particular vendors?

1- I've got a 32gb kinsington one in mine now, no problems

4,7-I paid $79 for the 32gb, at frys electronics (local), they're 75 on newegg.com

5-I've tried  ridata 4gb(233x), and a sandisk extreme III 8gb, and the above one, no noticable speed diff between the 3

See that arrow that says "Do not cover this hole"? Ive used microdrives inside of appliances like the WebDT and have had them fail in less than a year because of the lack of ventilation. If you arent worried about that, this card *should* work.

Wow ... those are some deals

I found that 10GB in cards and portable 40GB is almost enough for my camera. Im in no rush to get another card but another 4GB wouldnt hurt and would probably complete my collection.

The Compact Flash card slot in the WebDT is only USB 1.1 as far as I know. The IDE bus on the other hand I have pushed up to UDMA Mode 2 using Microdrive.
