I'm on my WebDT right now... but as soon as I take pics, I'll post the specifics of this case mod.   Currently I have a 2GB USB stick housed inside the unit, so if it drops its well protected --- also acts as secondary hdd (which boots too!).

Apologies for the delay in the photos, but here they are.

The reason why I did this was because my Internal battery stopped holding a charge, so I decided to use that wasted space to house a USB flash drive.

The way I transfer files onto the USB stick from my main PC is that I simply attach my 5ft USB wire extension, plug it into my PC and then I can delete/remove files as I please all without having to reopen the back.

I cant quite work out where all 4 wires solder and which is which. The best I can make out is:

J3? Pin1 (furthest right of set) is V+ and connected to Pin 1 on the Male USB
J2   Pin1 (furthest right of set) is D- and connected to Pin 2 on the Male USB
J2   Pin 2 is D+ and connected to Pin 3 on the Male USB
I can not see where the ground comes from but if I recall should be connected to Pin 4 USB

Please can you clarify where ground comes from and the above is correct.

I believe there are two USB ports taken to the cradle, do you know what pins are for the second usb connection?

Finally, the inside of your HD 366 looks just like my flash based unit, where does the HD go?

Wow now you mention it I see the differences. I understand not wanting to break a working unit and thanks for the pics, they are a good place to start. I can probably trace +5V and GND when I get to it. At the moment im still fighting with trying to install a xubuntu 8.10
