GPS on DT366

Post by jm98 »

After briefly testing MS S&T 2007 on my DT369 (XP) with very DIM screen due to bios issue. I am now considering installing GPS on Win CE DT366.  I think IGO8 would be perfect GPS candidate, if I can find CE version for x86 CPUs....

I know this is what I am in the process of trying to do.  When you say you tried out MS S&T may I ask why it was so dim?  The reason I ask is because this is the software I was planning to use but the 2009 version.  Thanks.

The reason screen is DIM is due to I have preproduction BIOS on my DT369 which has issues with ACPI. This situation is causing Button ACPI drivers not to install.

I read that MS S&T does not support 800x600, you may want to verify.

Cheers

I luv my MS S&T 2007 on DT369 when working.  I use Holux slim236 Bluetooth with USB Bluetooth dongle.  When working it great however USB bluetooth does not come up after hibernation hence I have to shutdown XP before shutting off vehicle.

I wanted to test iGO8 on WinCE with slim236 and see if that would be perfect solution.

I just did some digging around to find out, yeah apparently MS S&T 2009 the screen resolution needs to be 1024x768.  Time to go back to the drawing board I guess but there are some other things I still need to do before I get to this point on my unit.

I found that a program called Sygic has a semi-working version on WinCEx86:
http://rapidshare.com/files/66940797/Sygic_Drive_carPC_7191.rar
The main problem is that the program can't recognize the device properly and it will not give you the device ID for licensing. But the menus work.

This version requires unpacked maps because it seems to be quite old compared to the new .PAK maps.
Generally the maps are coming from a well known company named TeleAtlas.

Also I can't figure out to which COM port the Bluetooth GPS device attaches itself. I have a Garmin GPS 10x. It seems that the connection with the GPS device is problem for me under WinCEx86

I just wanted to clarify MS S&T 2009 does not support 800x600 but my MS S&T 2007 works 800x600 fine on DT369.

I managed to connect WinCE via Bluetooth to Garmin GPS 10x.
I used a registry editor (PHM 0.70 by Philippe Majerus) to see that.
The name of the port can be seen in "HKLM/SOFTWARE/MICROSOFT/BLUETOOTH/PRINTER" an the important is Port_name key. I don't know why the GPS is recognized as printer. The most important is that under the key PORT_NAME we see "BSP2:"

So we define the name of the port as BSP: in the program and it goes! :)

^^ Well that is what the system requirements I found by looking up the software again.  I am still trying to figure how I'll set mine to work in this matter and what software and or GPS I'll be using.

Okay I found my copy of MS S&T 2007 tonight and was wondering if anyone knew or has successfully installed this version of MS S&T onto the CF Card?  If you have can I ask you how you did this?

havn't tried S&T yet (my version is 97 also, probably will skip using it as its old as maps go).  but garmin nroute runs just fine.

installed nroute & mapsource to the 512mb drive (running microxp), then installed the free topo maps to the CF card, and city nav 09 to the cf card, both work fine with a 18usb gps connected.

I am still searching for a GPS software that runs on WindowsCE 5.0 (x86).

1.For sure Sygic Drive works but has problems to generate hardware ID for licensing.
2.ESRI ArcPad has a WinCE x86 version mentioned on their official site, but the actual x86 release is missing.

Yes, installed  S&T 2007 on internal 16GB CF on DT369 with d:\program files directory. Works fine. Connected USB hub with external DVD drive.
