cf card showing up as PCMCIA IDE/ATAPI controller under xpe

When I insert my 4gb sandisk cf card it briefly shows up with an exclamation mark beside it in device manager, then goes away as windows installs the PCMCIA IDE/ATAPI Controller....with no access to the storage...anybody had similar problems or solutions? thanks C
