I got my DT366 and was going to install TCPMP (a free media player) and it installs fine but when I go to run the appliaction it says player.exe is not a valid windows file....its windows CE 5.0

any help or any recommendations on a video player for the DT366?

the x86 ce 5.0 seems to have next to no apps that can run on them
there is a list or two on here of software people have found but I don't think anything for divx

Somewhere else on this site I saw a reference to running VLC videolan on the WebDT.

It seems the CE port has been discontinued from videolan.org though.

With the lack of AGP and such low video memory, with an AMD Geode CPU running at 400Mhz, dont expect MPEG-4 video playback. I have spent the good part of two days playing with how hard I can push the WebDT. I was not able to play back any sort of xvid/divx media. The unit did not have the resources. I am not sure if its because of the slow USB 1.1 bus, or the lack of CPU power. Either way, unless you play files from FlashROM or HDD2, I dont think it will be viable.

the one you want is the TCPMP x86 CEPC (by kitor).

I have tried it but i can`t see any image.

ok fijnally tested the posted TCPMP link and all I can get to play is mp3 files no avis.....still on the hunt for a avi player for CE 5

biggest problem is 400 mhz  256 megs is not ideal for decoding divx or most any video . you may be able to resample your videos down  to  a lower quality to make them play a little better. As for ce I have yet to find any working divx player for it. you may try re encoding your videos for say a zune or ipod video  quality level and see if that runs a little better on these things.

Broke down and installed XPe ... only player I could find that will handle AVI/Divx is VLC ... yeah its downsamples but I think it will do what I want to as soon as I find what resolution / quality setting I should be using

It doesnt work because almost all CE apps are compiled for ARM processor. And the webdt uses a X86 processor!
